Living our dreams takes courage, belief and a stick-to-it-ive-ness. Our dreams can trigger so much emotion within us. The questions of whether we are we good enough or if we deserve our dreams can plague and even paralyze us as we conceive of moving in the direction of our heart's desires. And yet, we must dream to keep our soul's alive. We must believe somewhere within us that there is an inkling of hope, a whisper of possibility, that we, too, can have what we truly, truly want.
Here are 7 L's to help you on your journey to making your dreams come true.
1. Learn what your dream needs. Be willing to invest in yourself financially. Take classes and workshops. Research the web and get books from the library or head to the bookstore to research. Also, many times we underestimate just how long it will take for us to learn and implement something new in our lives so give yourself the time to learn and grow into your dream.
2. Look for ways to live your dream now. If at first your dream looks like it will take more money than you have or than you are comfortable spending, is there a way you can start as an apprentice first? Informational interviews are great to do with someone who is already doing what you want to do. They may share shortcuts they have taken or would have taken in hindsight. They may even share their resources.
3. Listen within. Sometimes we have enough training but we are just afraid to jump, to take that first step. Listen deep within to what you know you "should" do. We must take conscious quiet time to hear the answers within us.
4. Leap into action. Be willing to try and be willing to fail. Be willing to look imperfect and even embarrass yourself. From action comes confidence, if we stick to it. And, from action comes new steps to take and new opportunities as the Universe meets us in our courage.
5. Laugh often. Be willing to laugh at yourself. What if your dream was not an all or nothing proposition? What if you just played at it until you decided if you really liked it? Enjoy yourself on this journey.
6. Live in your dream. Visualize yourself in your dream to see how you feel in it and how it works best for who you are and your lifestyle. This will allow you to learn your strengths and utilize them more fully. Know that there is more than one way to accomplish your dream. Just because one person may have achieved success following a particular course, does not mean that is the only way. Make your dream your own through visualization.
7. Love your dream. When we truly love something, we nurture it, we take care of it, we feed it, and we give it our attention. We must do the same with our dreams. We must love them into life.
